Without the Picture on the Box
A jigsaw puzzle without the picture on the box is slow work. You hold one piece for a long time, turning it over, sure it belongs somewhere. Some years feel like that.
The Teacher writes this verse after his list of times: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to weep and a time to laugh. “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart.” So we want the whole picture. “Yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” So we don’t get to see it from here.
You were made to want the ending and given the middle. A piece that makes no sense to you still belongs to God, and the Teacher says that whatever God does will last forever.
