Hebrews 11:7

It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.

Hebrews 11:7

By His Faith

Noah is such a beautiful picture of faith. He was not worried about what other people around him thought, only the Lord. By faith he built the boat while others laughed and enjoyed life around him. Yet, he obeyed God because he had a fear of the Lord and knew what He was capable of. God had warned Him about the things He had planned because of His wrath and anger against sin. By faith Noah condemned the sinful actions of the world. He set himself apart for the Lord, and for that, God called him righteous.

The thing about Noah was that he would sin again. Even after doing miraculous things, he would take a situation into his own hands and sin against God. However, he is still mentioned as a man of faith in this chapter. One sin did not define a lifetime of loyalty to God. One sin does not define you and me. Spend some time praying today and asking God to help you stand for Him in a world of corruption.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for men like Noah who demonstrated his faith by trusting you and condemning the world. May I be like Noah everyday. Amen.

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 1:8

Be My Witness

After Christ rose again and walked the earth, He gave a command to His followers, and then ascended into heaven. He told them that from now on they would have the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and advocate for them, and because they would have the Holy Spirit, they were to be His witnesses. He first says Jerusalem because that was their home. We are to be His witnesses in our hometown and community. He then said Judea, as this was where Jerusalem was located. We are to not only be His witnesses in our communities, but also in our states and nation. He says Samaria, which was a surrounding nation. We are to minister to people in surrounding communities and nations. He then ends by saying to minister to the ends of the earth. Our mission should not stop in our cities, states, and nations, but should reach the ends of the earth.

We are His hands and feet. It is our job to carry the good news to everyone we know and those who we don’t know. When you have a mission mind, you are able to make decisions based on who needs to hear the gospel. Everything centers around that very thing. How can you be a part of what God is doing around the world?

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are doing a work in my community, nation, and around the world. Give me a long for your people and your work. May I go where you go and do what you do. Amen

Ephesians 4:2-3

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.

Ephesians 4:2-3

Unity in Marriage

God created marriage to be a picture of His love relationship with us. He longs for us to be in a close knit relationship with Him and in that He teaches us how to better love our spouses. In this world, we see many things that destroy a marriage: other relationships, finances, communication, beliefs, and emotions. So what is the key to maintaining a strong marriage? This verse tells us the practical ways we can find strength in marriage. First be humble and gentle with one another. Put the other person’s needs before your own and don’t let pride destroy you. Second, be patient with each other; be gracious with each other’s faults because of your deep love for each other and for God. Last, make every effort that you can to keep yourselves unified in the Spirit, for this is what binds you together with peace.

These are all charactersitics of God the Father and can be characteristics of you and yoru spouse in marriage if you allow Him to develop these qualities in you. Pray together and seek Him and His guidance so you can better serve and love each other.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are what binds us together in marriage. Give us humility and gentleness with each other. Give us patience when we see faults. Unify us toward a common purpose and goal. Amen

2 Peter 1:6-7

…and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

2 Peter 1:6-7

A Godly Life

With knowledge comes self-control. With self-control comes patient endurance. Patient endurance produces godliness. Godliness is the end goal for the Christian and it is a process that never ends. This is all part of the sanctification process. As the Christian studies the Word and gains knowledge he or she will also show self-control in the way they live. Then, with that self-control comes patience. They will show patience because they have self control, and all of that will lead to godly living!

Spend some time today in the Word, gaining knowledge and understanding so that you can live a more godly life.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Give me a hunger for your Word. May I long to spend time everyday learning how to live a godly life. Amen.

2 Peter 1:5

In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge…

2 Peter 1:5

Live Out Your Faith

The word supplement means, “: something that completes or makes an addition,” according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary. So when this verse says to supplement your faith with oral excellence and knowledge, it means to add it to what God has already done. God’s promises are something HE does. Supplementing your faith is what YOU do. So when you spend time in the Word, studying and gaining knowledge, and then you live that out in your everyday life with moral excellence, you are doing exactly what this verse says to do!

Take some time to really ponder and pray about how you can better live out your faith according to His promises!

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for your promises of eternal life. May I continue to be hungry for the Word and living out my faith everyday. Amen.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Two Are Better Than One

When God created Adam in the beginning of time, He said that it is good for man to not be alone and then He created Eve. He gave them to each other so they could walk through this life together and not alone. This verse says that two are better than one because they can help each other succeed. Marriage is better when each person is looking out for the other and rooting for each other. If one person has trouble or falls, then the other one can reach out and help. They can rely on one another and lift each other up. They can be an encouragement for each other. This is what God meant for marriage. But someone alone will be in trouble when they fall.

Is your marriage a blessing? Do you help each other in troubled times? Do you pick each other up and encourage each other. Spend some time together in prayer for each other. Encourage and root for one another. This is why God gave you to each other, so you could serve Him by serving each other.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Help me be an encouragement to my spouse. Help me see his/her greatest strengths and qualities. May I lift him/her up when it seems like everyone else does not. Help me better serve my spouse. Amen

Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

Ephesians 6:4

Train Your Children

Children are a blessing from the Lord. He has given them to us to teach us how to love, care for, and forgive others. We can learn so much just by taking His guidance when parenting our children. While they can provoke us often in the way they behave, we must remember to not be angered. Anger is a strong emotion that can lead to action. Anger in itself is not a sin, but can produce a sin in the way we speak to and treat our children. We never want to stifle their spirits, so we must be cautious when handling them. Handle with care! All discipline and instruction should always come from the Lord.

Where does your discipline and instruction come from? Do you seek the Lord? When you spend time in prayer and studying His Word, He will give you the wisdom and answers you need to raise your children in His love.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Our children are so fragile. You created them in your image to be loved and cared for by us. Help me love my children in the way you have loved me. Amen

Galatians 5: 16

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

Galatians 5: 16

Live by the Spirit

When Jesus ascended into heaven, He knew that His followers would continue to need His help and guidance when walking through life. So He left behind His Holy Spirit for man. The Holy Spirit is part of the trinity: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are three in one, meaning that they all exist together, but also have separate identities. The job of the Holy Spirit is to guide the believer in the right path. When you have a decision to make, if you make a decision that goes against the will of God, you will feel a conviction from the Holy Spirit. If you pray and ask, the Spirit will help lead you toward the will of God. That is just one of His jobs. Another job of the Holy Spirit is to be an advocate on your behalf. He is always praying and interceding for you before the throne of God. This is why you, a sinful being, can still remain in the presence of a Holy God.

So let Him guide you in the way you should go so you won’t be allowing your sinful nature to take control. He will be in control when you let Him. Isn’t it amazing to think that the Holy Spirit is constantly pleading with God on your behalf! That shows us how much God loves us and how much He wants us to be with Him.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are so good to me. Your Holy Spirit knows what I need and when I need it. Thank you for sending Him to me so that I might be in your presence and live with you. Amen

1 Peter 5:8

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

1 Peter 5:8

Stay Alert

There are so many ways that our enemy, the devil, tries to destroy us everyday. He would like nothing more than to see us fail. This verse says that He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Have you ever felt these attacks? So how do you guard yourself against him and his attacks?

This verse tells us to stay alert. Keep watch. Always be aware of what you are doing and what is going on around you. Peter understood this concept very well. When he denied Jesus, he had allowed the enemy to penetrate his mind. He was not watchful even though Jesus had told him that he would deny him. Do a heart check today to see what your own sins and motives are so you will be able to identify the enemy’s attacks. Always be watchful.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Help me guard myself against the enemy’s attacks. Protect my heart so I can better serve you. Amen.

1 Peter 5:7

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

1 Peter 5:7

Worries and Cares

Anxiety is something that we struggle with every single day. We are such a fast paced society that needs to keep up with the Joneses. We spend so much time pouring into things that will not matter in the end. In return we feed our anxiety. Constant anxiety keeps us from achieving, serving, and surrendering to the Lord.

What are some things that feed your anxiety? Is it your career, your family, your church, activities? Sometimes you can rid yourself of the things that bring you anxiety. However, when you cannot get rid of something, pray and ask God to help you bring Him honor through your cares and anxieties. Give your worries to Him because He cares so much about you.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
I give you all my cares and worries. I know you care so much about me. Thank you for taking my burdens. Amen.
