Galatians 5:19-21

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

Sinful Nature

Everyone of us has a sinful nature. We were born with it. From the minute we entered this world, we were influenced by the sinfulness around us and in us. From jealousy to outbursts of anger in our younger years, to quarreling and selfish ambition as we grew into young adults. Some of us even allowed the sinful desires within us to corrupt our character and our outer selves. Our sinful desires can cause us to live a life full of sinful habits and can also affect our witness and mission.
The scary part about giving the sinful nature within us permission is that it can lead to a downward spiral. These verses clearly state that those who live this kind of lifestyle will NOT inherit the kingdom of God! Jesus is the only answer to ridding our lives of the influence of the devil and sin. By accepting Jesus as your Savior, you will find abundant life, especially a godly-filled life instead of a sin-filled life.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are the only One who can save me from my sin and the enemy’s hold on my life. Rescue me from my sinful desires and lead me to your throne. Amen

2 Peter 1:20

Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

2 Peter 1:20

His Words of Truth

These verses describe the truth of the Bible. While many people believe that Jesus did come to earth. They don’t necessarily believe in His death and resurrection. They also don’t believe in the authority that he had, as God. He was God and man. This is why he was called the Son of God, and the Son of Man. How do we know that the words of the Bible are true? God breathed life into all of the words that the people wrote. Nothing was written without his authority. He gave the words to us through people just like us. They did not live perfect lives, which is why they gave an account of what God did through them, rather than the works that they did.

Do you believe in the authority of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Word of God? When you speak about God and who he is, does his authority come through? Pray today that when you speak about God, others will see His authority in your life.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for the Bible and your words of truth. I trust you with my life. Amen.

2 Corinthians 5:6-7

So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. For we live by believing and not by seeing.

2 Corinthians 5:6-7

Live by Faith

Faith is all about believing and not seeing. Take the wind, for instance. You can feel the wind, so you know it’s there. You can see the effects of the wind blowing in the trees, but you can’t actually see it. Yet you still know that it exists. God is the same way. We cannot see Him with our eyes, but we can feel His Holy Spirit and His presence in our lives. We can see His effects when we see a life changed or a miracle take place. We know that He is there by the way He works and moves among His people. THis is not our home. We are simply residing here while He prepares a greater place for us. We have faith that He is preparing that place and will deliver on His promises.

That is faith. Faith is believing when the whole world is against you because they refuse to believe in what they cannot see. Faith is holding onto the very thing that you believe in because you have seen the effects and know that He is real. What is faith to you? Thank Him for His faithfulness today.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are so faithful to man. You breathed life into us and continue to work in our lives even when we doubt. Increase our faith every single day. Amen

Psalm 37: 5

Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.

Psalm 37: 5

Commit Your Way

The best way to experience all God has to offer is to commit everything you do to Him. When you commit everything you do to Him, you will see the many ways He works in your life on a daily basis. For example, when you commit your day to Him when you rise, you will see Him work and find blessings in even the most difficult situations. When you commit your life to Him, you will see those blessings more often and see what He is doing in your life and how He makes it better. This is the first step to trusting Him.

Make the first step by trusting in Him and commuting yourself to Him. This will never be a one time thing, but more of a daily thing. Since you are but a man, your flesh will fail you, so commune with God everyday so you can see how He is working and what He is doing in your life.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for working in my life. I commit myself to you today and everyday after. Help me see the many ways you’re moving in my life. Amen

2 Peter 12-13

Therefore, I will always remind you about these things-even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught. And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live.

2 Peter 12-13

A Gentle Reminder

Peter encourages believers here by telling them that he will always remind them of the things they already know and have been taught. He even says he will remind them as long as he lives. What dedication to the Christian life and to Christ Himself! Peter knew what happened when he denied Christ, so he would never deny Him again. Instead, he would spend his life reminding believers of the hope and love they could find in Christ Jesus.

What about you? When you read the Word of God, you can read those reminders from believers who walked this earth. Then, you can go out and remind and encourage others in the faith. Isn’t that what this Christian life is all about?

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for the words of your followers to remind me of what being a believer really means. May I continue to remind others around me in the same way. Amen.

2 Peter 1:11

Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:11

A Grand Entrance

Our eternity is completely based on our decisions here on earth. If we decide to reject God, then we are rejecting an eternity with Him. If we accept His salvation and live in His love, we will experience all He has to offer in this world and in this life and will spend eternity with Him.

Can you even begin to imagine what this will be like? A grand entrance! I had the blessing of attending the most beautiful wedding lately. There were roses everywhere and the grandest decor! As spectacular as it was, I cannot even begin to imagine what heaven will be like!

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
I thank you for my salvation and the security of eternity. May I spend all of my days, both on this earth and in heaven, with you! Amen.

John 10:10

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

John 10:10

Abundant Life

God’s purpose and the devil’s purpose has always been in complete opposition to each other. This verse tells us that the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Everything he does illustrates this purpose. 1 Peter 5:8 also tells us that he prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. This is his whole purpose! Every time we give in to our fleshly desires, we are giving in to his great purpose! God’s purpose contrasts the enemy’s purpose. God has come so that we might have an abundant life in Him, a rich and satisfying life! Everything He does is to fulfill this purpose. Every blessing, every joy, every single thing He does is to draw us to Him.

Do you see the difference between these two purposes? One is to completely destroy us and the other is to build us up and give us life. Yet, time and time again, we choose the pleasures of this life and momentary sins instead of choosing the abundant beautiful life God gives. Which do you choose?

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You have given me a great purpose. Help me choose that purpose every single day. You have given me an abundant life. May I choose life even when I feel defeated. Amen

Romans 12:2

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Be Transformed

When you chose Christ’s salvation, you chose to allow God to transform you into a new person. This begins with a thought. A thought produces a word, which produces an action, which can produce a lifestyle. Before you knew Christ, the way you thought became your life and what you knew. Sinful thoughts gave way to a sinful lifestyle. However, when you came to know Christ, you became a new creation and that includes your thoughts. This transformation begins at salvation, but continues throughout your life. The closer you become to Christ, the more you he transforms you and you become like Him.

This scripture tells us not to conform to the world. Even after salvation, the world will try to entice you. If you continuously allow God to transform your mind and heart, you will find it easier to turn away the pleasures and desires of the Lord.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are the God of my salvation. You have transformed me into a new creation. Help me keep my eyes focused on you everyday. Help turn my eyes away from the world and back to you, my Creator. Amen

Matthew 11:28-30

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

Come to Him

Who is the first person you talk to when you have a problem? Do you ever feel disappointed with their response? Maybe they agreed with you when you needed wisdom instead. Maybe they downplayed your situation. Maybe they didn’t respond at all. No matter what the situation, when we go to anyone besides the Lord, we will always be disappointed. Jesus says here to come to Him with your heavy burdens. He is the only one who can carry them! He will not only give you advice, but He will teach you and give you rest because of His humility and gentleness. No one else can treat you that way and give you what you need.

He goes on to say that His yoke is easy to bear; His burden is light. Many times the burdens we bear we bear because we’ve placed them on our own shoulders or we’ve allowed others to put heavy burdens on our shoulders. His yoke is easy because when we come to Him and place our burdens at His feet, He bears them all for us. Come to Him if you’re weary, if you’re overwhelmed, or if you want rest. He is the great reward.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Your burden is light. You carry my burdens when I come to you and lay them at your feet. Please help me remember to come to you before anyone else. Amen

Hebrews 11:8-9

It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith-for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise.

Hebrews 11:8-9

Journey to Another Land

Abraham is another great man of faith. These verses retell the stories we read of his faith in the book of Genesis. By faith he obeyed God and left what he knew in his homeland to journey to the unknown, knowing that God was faithful and would deliver on his promises. By faith he followed God not knowing where he was going and what God was doing. He trusted God. He even lived by faith in the new land, living as a foreigner. All the while trusting God, hoping in what was to come, and believing that God would deliver. It was because of his faith that Isaac and Jacob did the same.

Is God calling you outside of your comfort zone to a new land or a new adventure? Are you willing to say, “Yes, Lord,” and follow Him into the unknown? Spend some time in prayer for your future today!

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are always faithful. You are a good God who delivers on His promises just as you did for Abraham. Thank you for who you are. Amen.
