Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
John 14:23 (NIV)
When Someone Asks for the Date
Some believers get asked when they were saved, and they can name the day and the place. Others grew up in church, or came to faith slowly, and have no date to give. The question can leave them uneasy.
On the night before the cross, a disciple named Judas, the one who wasn’t Iscariot, asked Jesus why he would show himself to them and not to the world. This verse is how Jesus answered.
He talks about love and obedience, and about a home. The Father and the Son come to the one who loves Jesus, and they stay.
If you love him and keep his word, you belong to him, whether or not you can remember the day it began.
A Prayer to Remember
Father, thank you for making your home with me. I love your Son, and with your help I’m going to keep his word, today and every day after this one.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
