For the Trouble That Comes Back
Trouble often comes more than once. David wrote, “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” Times, plural. It’s an easy word to read past, and it may be the most hopeful one in the line. The refuge is there for the first hard day and for every one after it.
The psalm gives the reason to trust it in the line that follows: the Lord has never forsaken those who seek him.
You can bring him the same trouble you brought him before. He hasn’t grown tired of hearing it.
A Prayer to Remember
Lord, you have never forsaken those who seek you. I’m seeking you again, with the same trouble as before. Be my stronghold.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
