A Prayer for an Undivided Heart
This verse is a prayer, and it works just as well in your mouth as it did in David’s.
He prayed it with proud and violent men against him, and he asked for two things. He wanted to be taught God’s way, so he could rely on God’s faithfulness. And he wanted “an undivided heart.”
A divided heart wants God and something else at the same time. David didn’t promise to fix that himself. He asked God to make his heart whole, so that all of it would fear his name.
He’ll hear the same prayer from you.

Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
