Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back.

Following God
The men and women Hebrews 11 mentions all had one thing in common: they were looking forward to the hope of salvation. They knew that God was making a way; He had been revealing that to them since the beginning of time. They lived their lived in such a way that illustrated their devotion to this hope. Ruth is a perfect example of living out a hope like this. She left her family, land, and faith that she knew to follow the God of Naomi, her mother-in-law. She followed after God and new life in the hopes that her faith would be counted as righteousness.
Are you living your life today in light of the hope you have found in Jesus like Ruth did and so many others from the Bible? Spend time in prayer and seek after the Lord daily.
