Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Keeping in Step With Each Other
Walking with God shows up in small places, like the feeling you get when a friend at church receives the very thing you’ve been asking God to give you.
“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit,” Paul writes. And the first place he looks for that step is between believers: “Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”
Paul is talking about people in the same congregation, singing the same songs and praying the same prayers. Strangers are easy to be generous with. In practice, it comes down to being glad for the person beside you when their good news isn’t yours.
If a name came to mind as you read that, pray for that friend by name.
A Prayer to Remember
Lord, I’ve compared myself with people I love, and I haven’t liked what it did to me. Make me glad for them, and let me tell them so.
