Colossians 2:6-7

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Colossians 2:6-7

Plant Your Roots

Salvation is not the end for the Christian. It is only the beginning. Too many times we lead someone to the Lord, and then we let them figure it out on their own after that. Christians must take those who have just come into the faith and help disciple and develop them so they will continue to grow in the Lord.

Just as a new plant continues to grow and its roots continue to plant themselves deeper into the ground, so the new Christian must plant themselves in the Lord and continue to grow in Him. If the new believer never then they will crumble under pressure and persecution. With strong roots and a firm foundation, the believer will be able to stand firm in Christ. plants roots and grows, then no matter what comes their way.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear God,
May my roots plant deep in you, and may I lead others to plant their roots in you as well. Amen.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Never Stop

The best advice for the Christian is in this verse. First, always be joyful! Let joy surround you in your darkest times. When everything seems to be going right, let joy surround you. Clind to His joy in all circumstances! Also, never stop praying. There are many people I consider “prayer warriors,” my mother being one of the best. She is always going before the throne of God for someone. Be known as someone who prays. Last, and most important, be thankful. Go to God first in thanks and never stop thanking Him for who He is and what He has done.

Spend some time in prayer today, express your joy over His grace and love, pray and go before the throne on someone’s behalf and most of all, give thanks to God for everything He has done.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are my joy in every circumstance. Help me spread that joy to others. Thank you for always being the One who loves me and cares for me. Amen.

Colossians 3:2

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

Colossians 3:2

The Promise of Heaven

The best way to fight against the enemy and to prevent yourself from giving in to the ways of the world is to think about heaven and the things of God. Do not dwell on the things of this earth, but rather bask in the beauty of God and heaven! What a glorious promise for the Christian. When this life is over, we will close our eyes here and wake up in heaven with Jesus! If you think about these things and allow it to be your motivation for what you do, your life will be changed. You will see everything in light of eternity and will not cling to the things of earth.

Earth is going to pass away. We must focus on the next life and all God has for us. It should drive us to witness to our family and friends. IT should help us when we are making life decisions. It should be a part of our daily lives.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for the promise of heaven. May I always think about those things. Amen.

Ephesians 6:10-11

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

Ephesians 6:10-11

The Enemy’s Attacks

The enemy would like nothing more than to destroy the Christian. He wants to bring destruction in your life. You must stand strong against his attacks by putting on the full armor of God. This is not a fight of flesh and blood, but of spiritual darkness. So how do you stand strong against the enemy? First, trust in the Lord and know that He is powerful. Trust that He will protect you. Second, prepare yourself by knowing the Word of God. You will be able to recognize his attacks if you know the Word. Third, pray constantly so that you can guard yourself and others against him.

We know that Jesus has already won the victory over our lives, so take joy in that! God has power over the enemy, so we can find the strength we need in Him!

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are my strength. You are my hope. Help me know your Word so that I will be able to recognize the enemy’s attacks. Amen.

Hebrews 10:23

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.

Hebrews 10:23

A Living Hope

Hope is what gets the Christian through difficult times. I have said many times during a trial that I do not know how someone would make it through if they did not have the hope of Christ. We hope that God will see us through. We hope that He will work for our good, and we hope that He will return for us so we can live with Him forever. We cling to this hope everyday. It is what drives us. That hope is genuine because we know that God can be trusted to keep His promises. He is faithful and trustworthy.

Do you know the hope of Jesus Christ? Do you trust that He is the one who rescues? Do you hope in His return? Cling to that hope today and trust that He is one who keeps His promises and delivers.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are my loving hope. I trust in you. I know that you will never let me down. Amen.

John 10:11

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.

John 10:11

The Good Shepherd

Jesus Christ is the good shepherd. He is the one who shepherds His people. A shepherd not only leads His sheep, He protects them from predators. He is the good shepherd because He gives His life for His sheep. John 10:3-4 says, “ The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.” He is the good shepherd who knows His sheep. He loves them so much that He laid down His life for them.

Do you know Him as the Good Shepherd? Do you know His voice? He knows your voice and loves you very much.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for Jesus. Thank you for knowing me and loving me. Amen.

Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Matthew 5:16

Let Your Good Deeds Shine

Christianity is not based on good deeds, but the good deeds of the Christian lead others to Christ. When we minister and serve others, they will see the light living within us, which is Christ. This is why we must serve our community and those who do not know Christ. Go on mission trips. Volunteer in your community. Donate if you are able to. Spend time in your church looking for ways to serve others. Be a part of something bigger than yourself.

Spend some time today in prayer, asking God to help you become a part of what He is doing in the world. When you join Him in what He is doing, you will find yourself growing in your faith and relationship to Him.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
I want to be a part of what you are doing. Lead me and guide me. I want to serve you. Amen.

Philippians 4:13

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:13

His Strength

This verse means so much more than what people typically think. A lot of people think it means we are invincible in Christ. That is not necessarily what this verse means. Jesus gives you strength when you are weary and broken. He gives you the strength you need when you find yourself in trouble. He gives you strength when you are not sure if you can face tomorrow. He gives you strength to trust others. He gives you strength to love others when they seem unlovable.

So it does not mean physical strength, but an inner peace that calms the turmoil within you. May you find strength in Christ every day! Pray and ask Him for strength today so you can face anything with Him.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are my strength. There is no strength without you. Help me when I am unable to go on. May I always rely on your strength to get me through.

Proverbs 10:12

Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love makes up for all offenses.

Proverbs 10:12

Love Heals Others

Hatred breeds more hatred. When you allow bitterness to live in you, you invite it to take over and control you. Hatred will stir up quarrels and division every time. Love, however, heals all offenses. Love is the only thing that will heal. God’s Word tells us in 1 John that we only know how to love because He first loved us. When we love others, we bring healing to a broken world.

Love can reside in us as easily as hatred. Take some time to pray today and ask God to help you love instead of hate so you can show others the love of Christ.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for your love. You are a good God who has shown me how to love time and time again. May I love others in the same way. Amen.

Psalm 118:24

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

This is the Day

Every day is a gift from the Lord. That is reason enough to be glad and sing His praises! We can sing for joy because He has given us another day. We can be glad and rejoice with every breath we take. When you focus on the joy of the Lord, you will feel His presence in your life. He will help you through trials and sorrows. He will lift you up when you are down. He will help you see the joys of life when it seems very dim.

Take some time to pray and ask Him to sitr His joy within you every morning as you awake to a new day. He has given you a reason to be glad!

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for today. Thank you for everything you do for me. May I rejoice in today. May I rejoice in each day that you give me. Amen.
