‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:32

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:32

Kindhearted

We hear a lot in this world about being kind, but what does that truly mean? In this verse, Paul’s says to be kind and forgive. The two go hand in hand. It can be easy to be kind to people you like, or even strangers, but it is very difficult to be kind to someone who has wronged you. I have had people wrong me who I thought were friends. People I thought were loyal. God wants you to especially be kind to them. Forgive others and be kind to them because God has done that for you! As hard as it is for you, your sins were so much greater and Jesus forgave you.

Pray and ask God that He will help you forgive others as He has forgiven you.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for your forgiveness. Help me be kind and forgive others. Amen.

John 14:27

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

John 14:27

The Peace of Christ

The only peace the world knows how to give is a false, empty peace. It is a peace that satisfies for a time, but not forever. The only peace the world knows is the peace that is the opposite of war or fighting.

The peace that Jesus gives is a totally different type of peace. It is a peace that only He can give. It is an eternal peace that always leaves you full, not empty. His peace comforts, reassures, and gives hope. It eases your heart and mind and settles your emotions. You have no reason to be troubled or afraid when you have the peace of Jesus Christ.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
May I experience your peace every single day. May I be comforted by who you are. Amen.

John 14:25-26

I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

John 14:25-26

The Holy Spirit, Teacher

Another job of the Holy Spirit is to teach us about the scriptures as believers. We begin as newborn baby Christians who do not know much about the Lord. As we grow in our faith, we grow in the understanding and knowledge of who He is. We should never be satisfied, but should always want to grow more and more in our faith. When we stop we become stagnant. Just like moving water stays pure, we should keep moving so we do not fall prey to the devil and his schemes.

Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you the things of God so you will grow deeper in your faith and relationship with Him. You will not be disappointed.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Help me grow in my faith. May I listen to your teachings and take everything to heart. Amen.

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:3-4

You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:3-4

He Knows Us

God knows everything about us. Why? He is our Creator. An artist knows every single thing about their painting. An author knows everything about the books they write. So the Creator God knows everything about His beautiful creation- you and me. He searches us, He knows us, and He even knows every single word before it is on His lips.

He is a good God and trustworthy because He knows us. He knows what is good for you. He knows what is not. He only wants you to follow because He is so trustworthy.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You know my heart. Help me to trust you everyday. Amen.

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬

New in Christ

When someone comes to know Christ, they are a new creation. Just as Jesus died and was buried in death, so the believer’s old life is forgotten, buried in the ground. They no longer have to live in the midst of their sins any longer.

Just as Christ rose from the dead three days later, the believer is risen to new life. Their old life is gone away. Their sins are gone and they’ve been made clean. Christ’s death was a picture of the regeneration that takes place in the believer’s heart and life. They now can walk in their new life free of sin.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for giving me new life. May I always walk in that new life. Amen.

John 14:24

Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.

John 14:24

His Authority

Jesus again reminds His followers that His words are not his own, but God the Father’s words. He is telling them again about the authority of God. When the world claims other religions or renounces God’s authority over them, they are saying that they have no love for who God is and do not know Him. They do not care about authority but would rather rule their own lives.

As Christians, we must live like God is the authority over our lives. We must show that He is in charge and we have given Him control. This is how we are different from the world. This is how we show them who God is. Have you given Him control over your life? Pray and ask Him to take control today.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are in control of my life. Help me to leave it in your hands and not take it back into my own. Amen.

John 14:23

Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.

John 14:23

Our Heart, His Home

Jesus said that when someone becomes a believer, He comes and makes His home with them. This verse is evidence of what happens in that transformation. I remember the day I was saved. I remember where I was, who I was with, and the feelings I felt. However, I know others who cannot remember those things. Some of them even struggle with whether or not their salvation was real because they cannot remember. I would say that the true evidence is what happens after salvation. If you know your life has been changed by Christ, then you know your salvation. This is not something you need to struggle with if you are living as though your life has been changed. He has made His home inside of you.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for your salvation and the day you made your home in my heart. Amen.

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭57:15

For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭57:15

High and Lifted Up

God has the power to revive the weak and broken. He can take what has been destroyed and build it back up. He can take the lowly and lift them up. He is the One who is high and lifted up. He inhabits eternity. In the middle of disaster, He is the only hope. In the middle of trauma, He is the only hope. In the middle of sorrow, He is the only hope.

Do you need to spend some time in prayer today, seeking the hope of God? He will always come in your time of need if you call upon Him.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
You are God who can take my broken heart and revive it again. Amen.

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:9-10‬

Besides being wise, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge, weighing and studying and arranging many proverbs with great care. The Preacher sought to find words of delight, and uprightly he wrote words of truth.

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:9-10‬

Desiring Truth

When a preacher preaches or a teacher teaches, they should do so with the utmost care. Teaching others the Bible is so important and should be handled with care. They must be careful not to interpret the Word wrong or add or take away from it.

In the same way, we ought to study the Bible with care both individually and together. We must be able to give an answer for why we believe what we believe. We must be able to spread the gospel.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Help me seek the truth when I read your words. May I handle them with care. Amen.

John 14:21

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.

John 14:21

Do You Love Him?

Do you really love the Lord? What is your relationship with Him based on? Is it based on how many times you go to church or what type of church you go to? Or maybe it is based on the people in the church and who talks to you. If this is the case, then you may have a greater love for the church than you do for the Lord. This verse is simple when it comes to loving the Lord. It says that if you truly love the Lord, then you will obey His commandments. It will not be a chore to obey Him, but a joy.

When you choose to love the Lord, He will pour out His love over you and reveal Himself to you more and more. Maybe it will be when you spend time in prayer and Bible Study, or maybe when you meet with other believers. Know that following Him means knowing and loving Him.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
May your love pour out into my life. May I obey you out of my love and devotion to you, not out of obligation. Amen.
