And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:6-7
Let Your Roots Grow Deep
This verse is a beautiful picture of Christ’s love and what it does in us and through us when we surrender over to the Lord. The roots of His love grow down deep in us and an exhilarating life in Him begins to be built on His principles. Your faith will grow strong in the truths you have been taught. These truths have stood the test of time and have been the foundation for countless Christians who have gone before us. This is what the growth of a Christian truly looks like when we allow God to do His work in our lives.
A life rooted in the Lord and His goodness will overflow with thankfulness. Have you ever seen someone who held on to bitterness or anger? They allow it to fester and take hold of every area in their life until it ruins them. When we allow God to work, He can break those chains and new growth can take place.
A Prayer to Remember
Dear Lord,
May your truths take root in my life and may I find joy, peace, patience, and hope in you so I can give those things to others. Amen.
