Verse of the Day

1 Peter 5:9

Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.

1 Peter 5:9

Stand Firm!

When the enemy attacks you, and he will, Peter instructs us to stand firm against his attacks. This could be why Peter was able to resist the enemy’s attacks after Jesus died and rose again. He was only human, so he still struggled with sin, but the Bible never tells us that he denied Jesus again. How was he able to do this? By standing firm in his faith and being strong and courageous as men who had gone on before him had done. He would not let the enemy strike again. Then, he goes on to tell us how you can stand firm and be strong. Remember that your family of believers all over the world are going through the same types of troubles as you. In other words, you are not alone. Stand firm as a body of believers, each one protecting the next against the enemy’s arrows, just like an army would. We can put up our shield of faith to block all attempts of an attack.

God has called us to live together as believers, worship together, and stand together. This is the only way to fight against the enemy. So what about you? How can you stand firm and be strong in your faith? How can you protect your fellow believers from the enemy’s attacks? Take time today to pray and ask God to help you when standing firm in the faith.

A Prayer to Remember

Dear Lord,
Thank you for the family of believers you have given me. May I stand firm in my faith as many others have done before me. Give me the strength I need to fight off the enemy’s attacks and protect my fellow believers. Amen.
