What We Bring In With Us
Most sins don’t make any noise. Peter names five here, and envy is one of the quiet ones. Nobody gets asked to leave a church over envy. A person can be pleasant and kind all week and still carry it.
He’s writing to believers, people who have already tasted that the Lord is good, and he tells them to get rid of all five. Then he tells them what to want instead. Like newborn babies who want milk, they’re to crave the pure spiritual milk that helps them grow.
Name the one that has been with you lately. Give it to God, and ask him to make you hungry for him instead.
A Prayer to Remember
Lord, you see the envy nobody else sees. I’m sorry for it. Make me hungrier for you than for anything I envy.
