He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 21:5 (NIV)
A Promise Written Down to Keep
Most homes have a piece of paper somebody won’t throw away, a recipe in a mother’s handwriting or a card kept in a drawer. We write things down when we want them to last.
John saw a new heaven and a new earth, and he heard the one seated on the throne say, “I am making everything new!” God told him to write it down, “for these words are trustworthy and true.”
The promise was written for people who were still waiting, with grief and tired bodies and a world that looked anything but new, and it’s still written for people like that. You can read it on a bad afternoon, and it says exactly what it said the first time.
A Prayer to Remember
Lord, you are making everything new. When I can’t see it yet, let your word be enough for me.
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
