He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven.

Our High Priest
In the Old Testament, before Jesus came to earth, the Israelites had to go to the priests to intercede on their behalf. They brought animals to be sacrificed for their sins. Different types of offerings represented different types of sins. The High Priest was the only one who could enter the Holy of Holies. He was the one who would intercede on behalf of the people. When Jesus died on the cross, He became the High Priest. He is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He was given the highest place of honor in heaven.
Now we have the Holy Spirit who intercedes on our behalf. We do not have to go before a priest or anyone else; we can go directly to God the Father! Jesus tore the veil between God and man and allowed us to have direct access to God! You can bring your joys, sorrows, and requests before Him everyday!
